Meet Kelly, Implementation & Training Specialist
Q: Can you introduce yourself?
A: My name is Kelly Ormsby. I am Buffalo-born and raised and currently reside in Grand Island, NY โ which is a suburb of Buffalo. I spend a lot of time with my family (all residing in the same town!) and friends, and also volunteering at my church with high school students. I am the most recent addition to the Campus Groups family!
Q: Tell us 3 words that describe you best?
A: Fun, Team Player, Assertive
Q: Tell us one fun fact about you!
A: I am an avid Saved by the Bell fan. I can quote most of the series and will school anyone that thinks they know it better (with the exception of my cousin, who Iโm convinced has some sort of in with Peter Engel, the Executive Producer). I donโt brag about much, but this skill should be talked about. ๐
Q: What is your role at CampusGroups?
A: I am the Implementation & Training Specialist. My role is to help onboard new campuses and set them up for success, as well as provide ongoing training for our member campuses.
Q: What do you like the most in this industry?
A: Working with a range of people on campus, from VPSAs, to Admins, to GAs, to student users. It is great to see how each of those roles uses the student engagement and involvement tools in both similar and very different ways. I also love being a solution to a problem. Being solution-centered brings me a great deal of satisfaction!
Q: What do you like most about CampusGroups?
A: I know it is a clichรฉd answer, but the people! I spent my first two weeks at CampusGroups in NYC getting to know the team and learning the platform, and my third week at EDUCAUSE with our San Fran team as well. Everyone at CG is kind, humble, and dedicated to making the CG platform both user-friendly and solution-oriented. I love that there are new ideas and concepts that are constantly being talked about. I love the culture that I am immersed in daily. Iโve been learning the different sounds of the French language, that I just as quickly forget ๐. All in all, coming to CG was one of the best decisions I have made.
Q: If you had to go back to school, what/ where would you like to study and why?
A: I have always wanted to go back to school for Speech Pathology. Communication is so important to me, and helping others find words to attach to their thoughts and feelings is so valuable. I donโt know that I will ever do that, but if I did, I would likely stay in Buffalo. Buff State has a great Speech Path program!
Q: If you had one piece of good advice to give to a new student in one of our universities, what would it be?
A: Join groups! Be active in them. Encourage others to do the same. Embrace the campus culture, gain leadership skills, and HAVE FUN!
